My dearest Son. Never was poor mortal so harrafsed as I have been this morning going from one hand into another till this moment which I looked upon as particularly unpleasant being deprived by that means of returning You thanks for the Beautiful present You sent me. I do not [[deletion]] which [[/deletion]] know which most to admire the taste or the Execution of the Fan, but difficult as that is, I feel not lefs Your kind attention to me of which I at all times am truely Sensible. I am sorry that You are again confined & approve much of what [[unclear]] has done, I beg You will not think of comming to morrow Morning, nor even to Court it the Day is not Fine, for I will rather be deprived the with regret of Your Company, than see you run any [[unclear]] for my sake, & with these Sentiments I beg You to believe one Unalterably Your most affectionnate Mother & Friend Charlotte the 18 [[underlined]] th [[/underlined]] January 1801.
