My dearest Son. I was very sorry that by the continued Hurry of Yesterday I could not return my thanks to You for Yr kind Letter as well as for the Beautiful Present You sent me: The [[deletion]] [[unclear]] [[/deletion]] thing I regretted still more was that of being deprived of Yr Company & that Yr Absence should be caused by [[unclear]]. I will not as many do give You Joy being amongst the Gouhg Brotherhood, but most Sincerely Pray that this Painfull Complaint may prove beneficial to Yr Health, as it is generally behaved, that a Severe attack of it cleanses the Constitution, & That it may prove so to You is the Sincerest wish of My dearest Son Yr ever affectionate attached Mother & Friend Charlotte Windsor the 20th/ May 1809
