The documents bound in this volume comprise the letters preserved by Lady Charlotte Finch, governess to the children of George III and Queen Charlotte. The documents, together with a number of trinkets and souvenirs, were contained in a cabinet; and this cabinet with all its contents, was presented to H.M. Queen Mary in 1934, by Mrs. Wilson, into whose possession it had descended. Queen Mary placed the cabinet with its contents in the room at Windsor Castle occupied by the Lady-in-Waiting; these papers, which in several instances refer to the contents of the cabinet, Her Majesty directed should be deposited in the Royal Archives. O. F. MORSHEAD. April 7th 1934.
