Description
William writes in answer to two letters from Sophia. He approves of the indoor inventory and of the idea of letting General Hawker [Samuel], Bowden, Weaver and Allen drawing their accounts, each one for their own department. William strongly disapproves, however, of Sophia's desire to go and live with him; he reminds her that all his daughters will leave him when they reach the age of 16; whereas, the boys must live with William, occasionally visiting their mother [Dorothea Jordan]. He explains how other acquaintances - Mr Knollis and Mr J.W. Daniell - are taking care of Sophia's brothers (Frederick and Augustus) until they reach the appropriate age. He sent, through [Sir John] Barton a message to Sophia's mother [Dorothea Jordan].
