Letter from Queen Adelaide to the Duchess of Cambridge

Date Created

13 September [?1849]

Adelaide, Queen Dowager

The arrival at Bentley Priory has done her good with good air and good weather, although her pains have returned with shifting storms. She cannot contemplate a permanent recovery and she is enjoying being together with her family before they depart again on 26th. They are also sorry that they will miss Augusta as well as [Queen Victoria and Albert]. She is pleased that they like Wales and would like them to visit Westmorland and Cumberland to see the lakes; Swiss scenery. She passes on greetings.
