On behalf of the Duchess William communicates to Lord Mayo that his wife, Lady Mayo, cannot be appointed Lady of the Bedchamber: this is because the Duchess required frequent attendance at present. He suggests, though, that Lady Mayo should keep all distinctions and entrées of the role. William hopes the Mayo's will keep visiting.
He sends his best to Mrs Smith.
