Despite knowing that he will not be able to receive letters until the next week, William writes to enquiry after Daniell, Bushy House, the house Park and Farm. William hopes it rained, but not on Epsom's days. William and the family had a great weather during their journey; he is glad that his daughters could attend the Fête de Dieu [Sunday] at Coblenz on the Sunday before [28 May] - William notes that after the Pope's Concordat this celebration takes place on Sunday only [Concordat 1801 in which Sunday was re-established as a "festival", effective Easter Sunday, 18 April 1802?]. William describes the procession and admits to be surprised that the Prussian Soldiers at Coldenz, who are almost entirely Catholic did not have a Church Parade and did not attend. The Guards turned out but did not pay military honours as they usually do at Malta for the Catholic and in Corfu for the Greek procession. The Duchess [Adelaide], though, enjoyed the military choir. William is concerned about his other children in England, Sophia and Augustus - he expects better behaviour from the latter in particular. William should be back at the beginning of October.
