Enquires after her leg; on writing and letters asking favours and impossible questions ('none more than the question who will the Queen of England marry how in the world can I tell'); death of Mrs [Frances] Bowles, sister of Lord Palmerston; on whist parties; on a balsam for Mrs Hicks's leg; English society abroad including Lord Edward Somerset and daughters; on Carnival; on Mrs Hicks's son; on Matilda; on George [Hicks] and his possible visit at Christmas; on Miss Swinbourn Postscript: 'I am very glad that Grace is better & for both their sakes hope she will continue so' With punctuation marks and alterations in a different hand Signed and dated at ?'Fransport' Envelope addressed to Somerset Street London and stamped 'St James's St'. Written in a different hand: 'Very long! From "the Landgravine" to my Mother'; and further note in a different hand: 'Keep one from my d Landgravine.. but Mary'. With seal
