After I had begun to honors conferred upon me, I gave myself totally up to the republick, & there was so much time left for Philosophy, as [[deletion]] there [[/deletion]] was [[deletion]] some [[/deletion]] left over and above what was spent for the republick & for my friends: but I spent all this time in reading for I had not time to write.
