Sir Samuel Hood to General Jacob de Budé, and duplicate [0622a], reporting on the confusion which had arisen over the sharing between the Army and the Navy of the booty acquired from the capture of St Eustatius island, on account of the involvement of an outside agency (Mr Akers of St Kitts) and Captain Young, whom Hood denounces.

Barfleur Carlisle Bay Barbadoes May 26th. 1781 My dear General When I left St. Eustatius I flattered myself everything was settled & arranged so perfectly to the satisfaction of His Majestys two corps, that all would have gone quite smooth & pleasant, but alas how apt are we to deceive ourselves!
