New York 12th,, November 1782: My Lord, I inclose for your Lordships information, an extract of a letter I have written to Lieut General Leslie, and that of an other to Governor Campbell, and I most gladly take this Occasion to express my very High esteem of your Lordship, and to wish you upon a Personal as well as Public Account all the success and honor, which your Public Character warrants us to expect. It is with great regret that my attentions here will not permit me to pay my duty to his Royal Highness personally, and to wish your Lordship, which I very sincerely do, a Prosperous Voyage.
