Vessel as a better means of learning the Art of Navigation, You will be careful to appoint a Lieutenant to go with Him, who will exactly follow the made of conduct You have established. 9. The same rules to be followed when You think it proper that He should practice swimming. 10. You will never let Him go on Shore but when You can accompany Him. 11. As I wish the other Branches of His Education may not be neglected, I have directed the Revd. Mr. Majendie to attend Him for the pursuit of His Studies and have ordered such Books to be taken, as I think necessary for that purpose; I trust You will see that sufficient hours are allotted for that purpose, and that You will on all occasions inculeate to my Dearly Beloved for, how much more is expected from Him both in the Profession He is now entering into, and in every branch of knowledge becoming a Gentlemen, than from Persons who have not had the Advantages He may have of Education. 12. I trust You will from time to to time by Letter and addressed unto His, report how He conducts Himself, and what improvements He makes in Nautical Knowledge.
