Her Majesty might indulge the consoling prospect that her Peace of mind, & that of her Family could not again be harassed, Her scruples of Conscience not again be assailed by Proposals for the Introduction of any other Individual; & under that sanguine hope She was led to express Her Confidence that Her Council would by an assurance to that Effect relieve Her & Her Family in some degree from the weight of Nervousness under which They must labour. The Queen is sensible that She cannot impose a Pledge upon Them to which They think proper to Object, & She never could wish, even if she had the Power, to impose one which should be inconsistent with the Official Duty of any Men & with the Oath by which they are bound to perform it. The Queen impressed as She is with feelings of the truest Regard for the Individuals forming Her Council cannot View without great Apprehension & Concern the Possibility of any serious Difference with them & She trusts that She has already given ample Proofs, that such is far from being Her Disposition & that Her Opposition to the advice has been wholly uninfluenced by Captious Motives or trivial
