Although I am surprised that Mr [[unclear]] under the Expectation of such serious [[unclear]] Difficulties, should not have thought proper to communicate with Me upon the Subject, I must respect to You that I make no Sacrifice by Surrendering the Appearance of Patronage, and I trust You are Convinced that, if I had attacked any Importance to then Object I should most readily forego such Personal Consideration, when placed in Competition with the unequivocal Success of any Measure of Your Government, for the Prosperity of which I shall can feel most anxiously solicitous.
