the Queen to the Prince Regent 14th. Jany 1813. My dearest Son. Your Kindness of charging the Duke of York with the Commission of acquainting me with the intended Alliance between Your Daughter & the Hereditary Prince of Orange calls for my most gratefull acknowledgement. --My Congratulations upon this Event You will not doubt to be Sincere when I say. [[underline]] May this Union prove to be as Happy as Your own hath been Fatal. [[foreign: French]] C'est tout dive en peut de mots [[/foreign]] [[/underline]]. I will not deny that the Sudden Conclusion of so serious an Event did Surprise me a little but when I recollect that the Proposal [[addition]] does [[/addition]] arise from the same Quarter ^ [[addition]] from which [[/addition]] You received a very different one before I believe by coming into this, You have prevented much distress to Yourself, & [[deletion]] [[unclear]] [[/deletion]] however it may turn out in the End You can have nothing to reproach Yourself with.
