I am anxious to acknowledge with as little delay as possible the Receipt of Your Letter of this Day and to assure You how sensible I am of the Kind manner in which You have Communicated to Me the Arrival at Dover of the Duke & Dutchess of Cumberland and what You have Settled in regard to the Marriage Ceremony. You have at all times given such strong Proofs to Me of this Satisfaction which it affords to You to receive Me under Your friendly Roof that the Impossibility under which I feel of availing Myself of Your Invitation upon this Occasion cannot but add Materially to every painful Sensation Connected with it; But I must repeat to You, that although I cannot
