Title

Letter from Queen Charlotte to George, Prince of Wales

Date Created

7 January 1797

Creator

Charlotte, Queen Consort to George III

Description

This Day is too happy as to let it pass without writing a few lines to You which will but poorly express the Feelings of my Heart upon the return of little dear Charlottes Birth Day. May this Sweet Child prove a Blessing to both Parents, & as She increases in Years may She be the Cuase of Changing every unhappy moment which You have passed, into moments of Felicity'. Postscript concerning a present: 'in putt ['putt' crossed out] Tying on the Cross around the Childs Neck a sincere wish goes along with it that Her Crosses may never be Heavier' Signed and dated at Windsor
