Receive This Urn as an Acknowledgement for Your very affectionate attendance upon my dear little Angel Alfred, and wear the inclosed Hair, not only in remembrance of that dear Object, but also as a mark of esteem from Your Affectionate Queen' Signed. With personal seal of Queen Charlotte Lock of hair in folded paper titled 'Prince Alfreds Hair. Cut off during his Illness Augt 1782 at the Lower Lodge Windsor' With envelope. Annotated in a different hand 'with Urn Locket of Amethyst & Pearl with Prince Alfred's Hair - now belonging to Augusta Sophia Hicks since 1813'
